Craig Mosmen (left) and Michael Cassano (right) were college buddies from the University of Delaware (2000 Alumni). They spent many of their college years working in the restaurant industry, watching and learning the ways of running a small business. They found themselves fascinated and excited at the prospect of one day owning their own restaurant.
The original Couch Tomato Cafe’ was born in September of 2003 in Manayunk, PA. Thanks to the tremendous support of the customers ever since, The Couch Tomato was fortunate enough to expand their Manayunk concept by adding The Tomato Bistro (2011), offering additional seating, a bar, an expanded menu, and table-side service. Then again in 2014 the Couch Tomato Cafe’ opened the doors to their West Chester branch. Their plan is to continue growing their brand in years to come.
The company mission has been to consistently source organic and local produce, hormone and anti-biotic free meats, and an overall “natural” product whenever possible. The white and wheat pizza crust is made entirely with organic ingredients. The red pizza sauce is made with tomatoes roasted fresh daily in our ovens (not canned). The beverages range from organic, to all-natural, to fair trade certified. To further extend the offerings, you will also find an award winning house-made gluten free pizza crust, local and non-gmo cookies, and much more!
The company is committed to an extraordinary emphasis on the quality and integrity of its product and takes great pride in its scratch kitchen. They go that extra mile, and look forward to continuing their healthy and environmentally friendly revolution.
